"I don't mind sentimental girls at times..."

Talking to people, whether it’s friends, relatives, strangers, anyone at all, about their music tastes, preferences, what they like and hate, is one of my favourite things. The perfect example of this was recently in my best pal’s car; just me her and the drummer from Sextapes (I’ve done blogs about them in the past, if you haven’t seen them, take the time to go have a look). We were driving home from a gig and decided the radio just wasn’t cutting it, so we decided to just take turns in picking songs, and talking about what we’re into, and what we don’t like so much. The point I’m getting to is that I was reminded of a band that I love, but had completely forgotten about! Usually in the car we choose BMTH, Paramore; the usual. But drummer boy mixed things up with his request: Supersoaker.    This band has a vocalist that fit’s a category I love; quirky, unique, some examples of others being Ellie Goulding, John Newman and George Ezra.    I’m not a huge fan of meeting new people, but one of the reasons I deal with it and even enjoy it is getting to know their music tastes. I am one for everyone deserves an opinion, and mine are strong when it comes to music and it is SO refreshing being able to sit and discuss music, with the ability to say "actually, I don’t agree, I don't like it much" and not feel like you've hurt someone.  The point to this is you will meet many people throughout life and one thing you'll always remember is their music taste.      Case and point right here: I'd heard of this band through someone I went to college with but never listened to them. Then a boyfriend of the time listened to them and I got to hear them quite often and well, they're and good band. They are also a good example of don't judge a book by its cover as I didn't expect the singer to look how he does (we’re all guilty of making images in our mind before seeing them, admit it).    Thi...

Sometimes you just don’t like a song. Or even an artist/band.   That was me with Bring Me The Horizon.      For years I haven’t been a fan of them. They would be played in my music lessons at school due to other members of the class liking them, and it would almost cause me physical pain. If you were to ask any of my friends (especially friends from school) they would tell you how much I used to say I hated Bring Me The Horizon.      Then Sleepwalking was released. I heard in on Kerrang one day when I wasn't really watching the TV, it was more background noise, and thought “oh, I like this, who is it?”. Their name popped up and I was surprised to say the least. Then I saw them perform live at Reading Festival 2013 and was gutted to say I hadn't watched them before. They were such crowd pleasers and very good at what they do. Everything sounded amazing, and a bonus for me was that they played Sleepwalking, the song that changed my views. ...
